"The Bachelor" is an American dating reality television show. The show started in March 2002 and is still existent to this day. It is aired on ABC network and the show is hosted by Chris Harrison. Since the show's debut, there have been several spin-offs of the show like "The Bachelorette," "Bachelor Pad," and "Bachelor in Paradise." "The Bachelor" franchise is created and produced by Mike Fleiss and directed by Kevin Fuchs.
It was just announced that Arie Luyendyk Jr. will be the next guy to hand out roses for the 2018 season. Arie was on Emily Maynard's season of "The Bachelorette" and was a fan favorite.
The show’s plot is based on one selected bachelor or bachelorette for each season. The show starts with around 25 selected candidates for the Bachelor/Bachelorette to pick from. As the show continues, candidates are eliminated each round through the use of roses. Candidates who do not receive the rose cannot continue onto the next round. The final rose is given at the end of the series to the person whom that Bachelor/Bachelorette chooses to propose to. During each season, viewers witness extravagant dating trips, fun adventures, group dates, cocktail parties, hometown visits (where the Bachelor and/or Bachelorette have their selected final four meet his/her parents and family and vice versa) and a bunch of drama in between.
So far there have been 22 seasons of The "Bachelor." Season 21 starred Nick Viall, who chose Vanessa Grimaldi has his winner, however, the two recently announced their split.
Season 20 was with the Bachelor, Ben Higgins. He was a software salesman, from Warsaw, Indiana who fell in love with Lauren Bushnell. Unfortunately, Ben and Lauren have called off their wedding plans and have broken up. As we have seen with the past seasons, there are a lot of couples that stay together and a lot that do not. Candidates on each show are either chosen as the next bachelor/ bachelorette or invited back to "Bachelor Pad" or "Bachelor in Paradise."
"Bachelor in Paradise" is an elimination-style dating competition where contestants who have not been chosen in the past are invited to come back and find love. All the men and women chosen for this show have equal opportunity to find love and give one another roses. If you are not chosen, you are asked to leave the island immediately. Just like the Bachelor and Bachelorette, there is the final episode dedicated to engagement. There can be multiple proposals at the end of the season which we have seen in the past.
