BBC News is a channel that gives you all the information in the world as reported by the famous British Broadcasting Company, globally known as a reliable source of information. The topics that will be relevant to this channel are News, Sport, and Culture.

News

You are allowed to provide the fact that arise or occur everywhere in any country and around the world, without ridicule, indignation or discrimination. So here is a list of rules for BBC News Channel Writer:

  • Summarize the main point of the story
  • Should summarize the story from start to finish. So if you are writing about a fire that destroyed a building and left 18 peoples homeless, writing something like "A fire started in the building last night " isn't enough.
  • Paragraphs in news stories should generally be no more than two sentences each. Not seven or eight like you're used to writing in English class.
  • Sentences should be kept relatively short.
  • Along with this same line, always cut unnecessary words. Example: "firefighters arrived at the blaze and were able to put it out within about 30 minutes" can be cut to "firefighters doused the blaze in about 30 minutes".
  • Don't use complicated soundings words when simpler one will do. A news story should be understandable to everyone.
  • Don't use the first person " I" in news stories.
  • News stories are generally written in past tenses.
  • Avoid the use of too many adjectives. There's no need to write "the white-hot blaze" or "the brutal murder". We know fire is hot and that killing someone is generally pretty brutal.
  • Don't use phrases like "thankfully, everyone escaped the fire unhurt". Obviously, it's good that people weren't hurt, your readers can figure that out themselves.
  • When you first refer to someone who's quoted in a story, use their full name and job title if applicable. On the second and all subsequent references, use just their last name.
  • Don't repeat information.
  • Don't summarize the story at the end by repeating what's already been said.

Sports

A sport is commonly defined as athletic activity or skill and involves a degree of competition, such as tennis or basketball.

Sport is generally recognized as a system of activities which are based in physical athleticism or physical dexterity, with the largest major competitions such as the Olympics Games and other organization. This channel will be responsible for providing or contributing to any information related to sports around the world.

Culture

Culture is integrated pattern of human knowledge, belief, and behavior that depends upon the capacity for learning and transmitting knowledge to succeeding generations.Culture is transmitted through language, materials object, ritual, institutions, and art from one generation to the next. BBC News Channel accepts cultural news from different countries.
