Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is probably the most anticipated Android smartphone to arrive this year. The company will officially launch the device in a New York City event on August 24, 2017. The company also promised a better, safer, and very innovative device compared to its previous models.
What should people expect from the smartphone?
People have set their expectations high for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, because the device might be the only chance to redeem the company’s market credibility following last year's disastrous Note 7.
The company even issued a worldwide recall for all Galaxy Note 7 units. According to Forbes, Samsung is now playing safe with its batteries and decided to put a smaller battery cell to the Note 8 compared to the previous model.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is expected to run on Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system. The device will also feature the highly speculated wireless charging technology. According to GSMarena, the device will have 6 GB of RAM, and 64 GB to 128 GB of internal storage. It will also have a microSD storage slot that is expandable for up to 256 GB. The device is IP68 certified, which means that it is dust or water proof for over 1.5 meters.
What is ‘Find My Mobile’ application?
The upcoming smartphone will be bundled with its own stylus pen. The S-pen is said to have a built-in tracking technology that can be used for the “Find My Mobile” application. This new application can help users locate their smartphone in case it is misplaced. The company will adapt to the smooth, clean and beautiful infinity display of the Galaxy S8, which is why the device will have no physical home button.
Camera that could rival iPhones
The Galaxy Note 8 will sport a 12MP dual rear-facing camera, and an 8MP front-facing camera. Some rumors claim that there will be a new augmented reality application that can measure the distance or the height of an object by using the camera.
The camera will offer 3x optical zoom that can capture brighter, and more detailed photos and videos.
Impressive sensors
The Note 8 will also feature an iris scanner, accelerometer, gyro sensors, proximity sensors, compass, and barometer. The location of the fingerprint sensor is still unclear, but some tech enthusiasts predict that it will be mounted at the back, just like the Galaxy S8. The device will be available in four colors - midnight black, maple gold, orchid grey, and deep sea blue.
