"American Idol" spoilers from Gold Derby have Laine Hardy down as singing "Oo-De-Lally" from "Robin Hood" this Sunday, April 21. The Disney show comes with the Top 10 competing for eight places, so two go home after the nationwide voting. The song seems an odd choice for Laine's style and maybe he chose the ballad-style song after Maddie Poppe gave him some advice on Twitter.

Laine Hardy encouraged to sing a ballad by 'American Idol' winner Maddie Poppe

Fans of Laine Hardy were super-thrilled when he made it into the Top 10 on "American Idol" this year.

After the show that saw Evelyn Cormier, Ashley Hess, Eddie Island, and Riley Thompson sent home, Maddie posted to Laine on Twitter. Laine's carried himself well this year, managing to cruise through the Group and Solo rounds he struggled with last year. In fact, he blew the socks off fans of the show when he managed a credible and stunning Beatles number in Hawaii. But, given the number of Disney songs available, could Laine's choice be for real?

Fans wonder if Maddie Poppe influenced Laine's decision to sing a ballad. And, let's face it, "Oo-De-Lally" from "Robin Hood," meets the description. According to the Dictionary, "a ballad's a poem or song narrating a story in short stanzas." Maddie posted on her Twitter, "@TheLaineHardy did great again.

He’s very consistent. I wanna see a ballad from him. Some piano thing. It’d be super unexpected. But I know what he’s doing is driving the ladies wild lolz. #americanidol."

Is 'Oo-De-Lally' from Robin Hood the right song for 'American Idol' Laine Hardy?

As Maddie Poppe pointed out in her tweet, the ladies love him and they like what he's been doing.

Laine's best loved for his rock and country music. Somehow it's quite hard imagining him singing the "Oo-De-Lally" story by Roger Miller which tells the story of "Robin Hood and Little John walkin' through the forest, Laughin' back and forth at what the other'ne has to say Reminiscin', This-'n'-thattin' havin' such a good time Oo-de-lally, oo-de-lally, golly, what a day."

Perhaps you'll find a connection to "American Idol's" Laine with it?
