In the original "Archie" comics, Jughead and Betty were simply friends as the blonde girl-next-door went gaga over the titular character. However, the story of the TV adaptation of the beloved comics, "Riverdale," has tweaked a lot from the original. In the TV series, Betty and Jughead are lovers, and their on-screen chemistry has gained the approval of the viewers. Their cute couple moments and amazing on-screen chemistry has made them the most favorite couple in the series. However, it seems like their relationship will be in jeopardy in "Riverdale" Season 2 as a looming twist threatens to reveal a dark secret that Jughead and Betty might actually be family.
According to Refinery29, "Riverdale" season 2 is expected to have a major story arc involving Betty Cooper. The cliffhanger ending of season 1 has been dangling a lot of things in the air, including that of Betty and Jughead's relationship.
Life goes on in 'Riverdale'
Looking on the bright side, some things were also solved in the season 1 finale, despite ending on a whole new level of what and who's. Jason Blossom's murder was already solved and the only major mystery left was the fate of Fred Andrews.
On Friday, the fans were delighted to see an update from the official Twitter account of Archie Comics, featuring a photo of Betty and Jughead. Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart play the role of Jughead and Betty respectively, and they were photographed tinkering on the hood of a car together.
Apparently, it was a scene from the set of "Riverdale" season 2 and the lone said photo pretty much meant two things - first, that Betty and Jughead are still very much together in the first few episodes and second, Betty's awesome mechanical skills in the comics have been carried over to the TV adaptation.
Betty's mysterious brother
In "Riverdale" season 2, the identity of Betty's brother will be one of the great mysteries to be uncovered. Several fan theories have begun circulating on the internet, but one of the most popular theories suggest that Joaquin might be Betty's brother.
Although Joaquin might have limited screen time in season 1, his sad goodbye with Kevin undeniably hit a note with the viewers.
The same-sex relationship has also garnered praises from the LGBT community, considering that it was a major tweak from the original comics. Fans can expect more screen time for Kevin and Joaquin since Teen Vogue reports that the former was already tagged as a series regular.
