On February 7 President Donald Trump hailed Sophia Marie Campa-Peters, from Brownfield, Texas, as a hero.
“You may only be 9-years-old,” he said, “but you are already a hero to all of us in this room, and all over the world.” This is not the first time The president has brought up Sophia Marie Camp-Peters.
Sophia suffers from a genetic vasculopathy
This is a genetic disorder that makes the blood vessels in her brain narrow. Because of this vasculopathy, she has suffered several strokes in her short life and is partially paralyzed.
Sophia needed to undergo delicate Brain Surgery.
And even though she has undergone multiple surgeries, in the past, she had a special request for this surgery. She wanted people from all over the world, to pray for her. Earning national and worldwide attention.
She asked for 10,000 prayers before this surgery and according to her family, she has far exceeded her goal. And all those prayers thankfully worked.
“Heroes like Sophia come from all across our country. Through their love, their courage, their sacrifice, we glimpse the grace of Almighty God,” Trump said at the prayer breakfast.
Sophia underwent surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital on Friday, January 26, 2018.
When Trump heard of her request—to get 10,000 people praying for her, on the day of her surgery— he had the request brought up at the White House press conference.
Sanders spoke during the press briefing
“We want to make sure she gets that and far exceeds it,” –it being the number of prayers requested. Sarah Huckabee-Sanders went on to say “Sophia, I’m here to tell you that millions of people from every corner of the world will be praying for you on January 26.”
She gave Sophia the assurance the president was praying for her as well as the white house and hopefully the nation.
The nation was captivated by her story and prayers poured in.
She came through the surgery without complication. The girl’s recovery after the surgery has been above and beyond what was expected.
On her Twitter page, her family wrote that she is doing great. She was sent home from the ICU and even able to travel to Washington, to attend the prayer breakfast, where she reportedly waved to the president.
She is a strong soul who has gone through some incredible miracles but is getting through it with faith and prayers.
