Ever since Rockstar Games officially announced its highly anticipated open world western action-adventure video game dubbed, 'Red Dead Redemption 2,' back in October, avid gamers have been waiting with bated breath for the studio to spill the beans about the game. But much to their chagrin, the studio's lips are still sealed.

'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date

The long-rumored sequel to 'Red Dead Redemption' is slated for a fall release this year. If previously surfaced reports proved to be true, 'RDR2' will make an appearance during this year's E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo), which kicks off June 13.

There's also hearsay that either Sony or Microsoft could take the center stage at the upcoming event in order to take the wraps off the impending sequel.

First 'RDR2' screenshot spotted online

While nothing is set in stone yet, the rumor mill has continued churning all sorts of speculations around the much-awaited title. Regrettably, multiple sources suggest Rockstar Games might not even attend E3 or any other immediate gaming conference.

Lining with this, an unnamed user on the GTA Forums has posted an alleged leaked image of the upcoming game, but not everyone's impressed. Apparently, several forum users cited a bunch of examples that explains why it's forged, while others rooted for legitimacy.

Confirming whether or not it's real is quite hard at the moment since it seems to be a shot of an on-screen image.

This also explains the lusterless color and the slightly cartoonish look. However, a few users are even more cynical than usual as they indicated the user who posted the image is not a regular member, and they took off immediately after posting the purported leaked image.Nevertheless, if the screenshot is indeed legitimate, it is highly likely that it’s an early build since trivial touches including shadows, finer details and cleaner lines you'd expect to sweep avid gamers off their feet are missing.

That being said, this gives 'RDR' fans something to cheer about until the game developer divulges more details about the long-rumored video game.More concrete details are likely to surface online either in the form of an official teaser trailer or poster sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, it is also imperative to bear in mind that Rockstar Games has a reputation for keeping details about its upcoming titles, for instance, 'GTA 6,' under wraps.
