The last time NBA trade rumors surfaced, they mentioned about basketball superstar Jimmy Butler being traded to another team in the league. Most of the talks mentioned about the Boston Celtics trying to sign the Chicago Bulls shooting guard to their team. Of course, this was an integral discussion in the basketball community, as the player has proven himself to have championship-caliber skills.
Apparently, Jimmy Butler has already been traded to the dismay of the Bulls fans. However, he is not going to the Celtics or the Cleveland Cavaliers (there are rumors about this, too).
Rather, he is going to take his talents to the Minnesota Timberwolves. It may be too soon to call it, but the Wolves definitely now have a chance at the playoffs, at least.
Traded to the Timberwolves
Many really expected the Boston Celtics to acquire Butler. However, for some reason, the deal did not happen. The player’s arrival to the Timberwolves is without a doubt a surprise. The deal reportedly took place on draft night, a move that will soon change the course of history in Minnesota. This is indeed a monster forming in the West, something that should shake the competition in the division.
For the particulars, Jimmy Butler was acquired by the Wolves’ front office alongside Chicago’s number 16 draft pick.
This deal is an exchange for Kris Dunn, Zach LaVine and the number 7 selection in the draft. The latter, in particular, eventually became Lauri Markkanen. Even if the Bulls did not give up their pick, this is still an atrocious trade played perfectly by the Minnesota’s front office. Titular sportswriter went to Twitter to air their take on the deal.

As reported, this is an absolute fleecing. Bulls FO actually thinks Dunn is good. https://t.co/vBH4K9G2LG

Why the Bulls should have protected Butler
There is no doubt that Jimmy Butler is one of the finest talents in the NBA today.
He has proven himself to be a decent scoring machine, partnered with his flawlessness on the free throw line. This even goes without saying that the player knows how to make contact and still put the ball in the hoop. He has a very acceptable winning rate, pretty much significant compared to Dwayne Wade and Rajon Rondo.
Jimmy Butler is still 27, but he has already shown extreme potentials. He is, or he was, a definitive franchise player for the Chicago Bulls. Unfortunately, the team’s front office thought otherwise; hence the trade. They could simply re-sign him and build talents around him. After all, they already have Dwayne Wade who, despite being past his prime, can still put up effective numbers.
