Dwayne Wade exercised his player option for the 2017 to 2018 NBA season as he would be staying for another year with the Chicago Bulls. Others thought he would leave Bulls and play with the Cleveland Cavaliers to reunite with LeBron James.
Wade will get a contract worth $23.8 million for next season, and the 35-year-old said in an interview with David Aldridge’s TNT that he will stay with Bulls due to “24 million reasons.” Wade signed a two-year $47 million offer from the Bulls last year, and he signed and played with them in the 2016-2017 NBA season.
He played for Miami Heat for 13 seasons before signing with Chicago Bulls.
During the 2016-2017 season, Wade averaged 18.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game. He noted playing for Chicago Bulls made him happy as he grew up cheering for that team.
Dwayne Wade hits at bashers after announcing he will stay with Bulls
Many fans said Wade got too much money after he re-signed with Chicago Bulls. He then took to Twitter to say:
18.3 points a game in 29mins on 43% shooting at 35 years old. if I'm 25 with the same numbers I'm getting 150 million 😂 #Fading #petty

Others said he only stayed with the Bulls because he would no longer be offered the same amount if he leaves.
Jimmy Butler wants to stay with Bulls, too
Another player who wants to stay with the Chicago Bulls is Jimmy Butler despite rumors that he will be traded to other teams such as Cleveland Cavaliers. Sources claimed Butler expressed he hopes to stay with Chicago Bulls, but that report had not been confirmed yet. Other sources said Butler might want to join another team as he has not been treated well by the Bulls but that might not be the case as an insider said he expressly told his current team he does not want to be transferred to any other team.
Aside from the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Phoenix Suns are also looking to acquire the All-Star player of Chicago Bulls. Butler’s reason of wanting to remain in Chicago Bulls is not known.
Is Dwayne Wade one of the reasons why Jimmy Butler wants to stay?
Butler and Wade became friends quickly after the latter joined the Bulls.
Butler even went as far as crediting Wade for teaching him new skills so he can improve how he plays. It is possible that because Wade re-signed with Bulls, Butler did not want to leave since the two make a great team whenever they play together.
The two were recently spotted in Paris. Wade took to his Snapchat to say he bumped into Butler but that might not be true since he knows Butler has been vacationing in the area.
Butler will become a free agent this 2019. His plans for the next seasons are unclear.
