Tatum O'Neal made a conscious effort to show support to her 33-year-old step brother Redmond O'Neal following his recent arrest and incarceration. Redmond is the son of Ryan O'Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett. Earlier this month, Redmond O'Neal was arrested after allegedly robbing a 7-Eleven convenience store at knifepoint. The store clerk handed over $60 in cash before Redmond exited the store, according to Radar Online.

Redmond O'Neal pleads not guilty

Redmond O'Neal did not get far because a call had already been placed to the police by a bystander who witnessed the robbery. Police officers stopped Redmond and found a knife matching the description. Arrest reports reveal that bail would have been $50,000, however, he is currently in custody on a probation hold and therefore being denied bail. Redmond O'Neal has had numerous legal issues over the past few years, mostly related to drug probation violations.

Tatum O'Neal wants to reconnect with family

Tatum O'Neal contacted the jail over the weekend for information concerning visitation, however, she was denied visitation after her troubled step-brother refused to see her, stating that he was not ready to see anyone at this time.

Redmond O'Neal has pleaded not guilty to all charges stemming from his recent arrest, which includes second-degree robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of an injection/ingestion device, and two counts of possessing a controlled substance -- meth and heroin.

It is a sad situation for the O'Neal family. Tatum has revealed that she has been very concerned about Redmond and is not at all surprised he was arrested. The O'Neal family has been very dysfunctional for decades. As previously reported, Tatum O'Neal has been attempting to reach out to all of her family members in an attempt to put her broken family together again.

During an interview with Megyn Kelly in March, Tatum revealed that she had attempted to reach out to her aging father Ryan O'Neal in hopes of making amends, apologizing publicly to her father.

Tatum O'Neal, 54, expressed that she is at a time in her life where she rid herself of all the resentment when it comes to her father and her family. She claims that her father's age and poor health made her realize that some things such as family disagreements and battles are not really all that important anymore. She feels time is marching on for everyone and there comes a time when you just need to decide who and what is most important in your life. It seems that she has chosen her family.

Hopefully Tatum O'Neal's determination to put her family back together again will be successful.
