"The Walking Dead" season 8 is just weeks away with the premiere set for October 22. Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes in AMC's popular post-apocalyptic horror television series, has some big news for fans, but it may not be what they want to hear.

"Big deaths are coming, just to warn everybody," Lincoln tells Entertainment Weekly, hinting that several popular characters will die at some point during the upcoming season.

Who will die on 'The Walking Dead' season 8?

Don't expect to see any of your favorite characters to drop dead on the first episode.

Lincoln warned us that we will lose some major characters during the upcoming season, but he didn't say when. But its safe to say that fans are in for a season filled with shocking episodes.

Lincoln isn't the only one talking about the death of more than one character this season. Showrunner Scott Gimple told EW there are "very difficult times for the heroes ahead — though in unexpected ways." He backed up Andrew Lincoln's claims that there will be "big deaths" and went on to say that the characters who die will "catch people by surprise."

Of course, Andrew Lincoln and Scott Gimple did not drop any hints as to who will die during "The Walking Dead" season 8 but it won't be long before spoilers leak out.

At the very least, fans will start speculating on Twitter about who will die before the season ends.

'The Walking Dead' preview

AMC recently released the title and plot synopses for the first three episodes of "The Walking Dead" season 8. They won't help fans figure out who dies but they will give a glimpse of what's to come this season.

Episode 1 is titled "Mercy" and will feature Rick and his group banding together with the Kingdom and Hilltop to fight Negan and the Saviours.

The second episode of the season ("The Damned") will show Rick encountering a familiar face as he continues his fight. According to the Independent UK, this episode could "mark the return of Heath" played by Corey Hawkins or it could be the first time Rick faces Eugene.

Episode 3 is titled, "Monsters" and could be the episode where fans see one of the major characters die. Although this is just speculation at this point, the synopsis from FX — "Conflict with the Saviours leads to unintended consequences for the Hilltop, the Kingdom, and Alexandria; morality proves tricky in wartime" — hints that something big will happen.
