Taylor Swift has launched her new music video for “...Ready For It?” which is one of her latest songs in her album, “Reputation,” People reported. The music video featured themes such as sci-fi and anime.
The pop singer explored these themes while incorporating new characters that have not yet been seen in her previous productions. The video started with graffiti art that featured her name and the title of the song.
Then, Swift was shown walking across an alleyway leading to a hidden facility guarded by masked figures. She was wearing a black hooded outfit.
“I-I-I see how this is gon’ go / Touch me and you’ll never be alone / I-island breeze and lights down low / No one has to know,” the lyrics read.
She went inside the facility to face another Taylor caged inside a large cube made out of glass. The second character was wearing a skin-color bodysuit. Many of the scenes showed the two characters alternately revealed through cuts made during the video editing.
Visual effects
Similar to Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” music video, the singer also featured her selves in various images.
The woman caged inside the glass box was also shown transforming into a powerful cyborg.
She was also revealed riding a white horse. Visual Effects were used to give the animal’s body a spiky suit.
“In the middle of the night in my dreams / I know I’m gonna be with you / So I take my time / Are you ready for it?” the lyrics further read.
The woman inside the glass box showed her powers of lightning and escaped through breaking glass walls. She was revealed using her powers against the other Taylor Swift wearing a black hooded suit.
Reception
“...Ready For It?” is a track off her album “Reputation” that was released to feature the pop singer in her new and braver image. Before the music video was released on October 26, she provided a video teaser that was posted on her official YouTube channel.
The video was directed by Joseph Kahn. He is the same director behind her previous productions such as “Blank Space” and “Wildest Dreams.”
When the teaser was released earlier, it received criticisms from some fans. They noted that it could have been ripped off of Scarlett Johansson's "Ghost In The Shell" which featured the actress in the same bodysuit. Her album will be released on November 10.
The award-winning singer was also congratulated by Selena Gomez, one of her closest friends in the industry after the video was released. She said, “It’s everything you would want and more so very proud.... It’s honestly so inspiring.”
