“Dunkirk” has been predicted to win the 2018 Golden Globes Best Picture during the event to be held in California on January 7, Goldderby reported. This movie does not have as many nods as its rival “The Shape Of Water” in various other categories.

Aside from earning a nomination in the Best Picture category, “Dunkirk” also earned nods in the categories of Best Film Score by Hans Zimmer and Best Film Director by Christopher Nolan. It is a war movie that tells about the iconic Dunkirk evacuation during the Second World War.

'Dunkirk' to win Best Picture?

Goldderby writer Daniel Montgomery noted that this movie by Nolan is “driven by its visuals” despite having fewer dialogues. Moreover, it has been noted for having “lavish visual spectacles.”

Likewise, no movie has won the Best Picture category with only three nominations or less throughout the history of the Golden Globes. However, Montgomery believes that “Dunkirk” will make history by winning the category in spite of this record.

“Dunkirk” is presently in competition with other movies for the Best Motion Picture for Drama category. These include “The Shape Of Water,” “Call Me By Your Name,” “The Post,” and “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.”

“The Shape Of Water” is the film that earned the greatest number of nominations at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards.

It received a total of seven nods including Best Picture, Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Drama, and Best Director. It also received nominations for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role and Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role.

Seth Meyers

Based on real-life events, “Dunkirk” tells the story of the Allied fighters from Great Britain, France, and Belgium evacuating during a tough battle with the German Army.

It features a stellar cast that includes Fionn Whitehead, Damien Bonnard, Aneurin Barnard, James Bloor, and Barry Keoghan.

The movie was produced under a budget of around $100 million but earned a total of around $190 million in the United States box-office. During the opening weekend in the country, it is said to have earned more than $50 million.

The 2018 Golden Globe Awards will welcome a new host after Jimmy Fallon led the event in the previous year. Seth Meyers will be this year's host. He has previously hosted the 2011 ESPY Awards and the 2014 Emmys.

It is slated to be a star-studded evening with many Hollywood stars in the line-up of the presenters. These names include “Catwoman” star Halle Berry, “Glee” actor Darren Criss, “Wonder Woman” Gal Gadot, and “Fifty Shades” star Dakota Johnson. Other personalities include Carol Burnett, Kelly Clarkson, Penelope Cruz, Neil Patrick Harris, and Chris Hemsworth. The awards show will be aired on NBC at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time.
