The first trailer for "Pacific Rim: Uprising" has finally dropped and fans simply couldn't get enough of the amazing new Jaegers. However, it looks like the teaser for the highly anticipated sequel also has a major spoiler about the fate of Scott Eastwood's character. Will Nate Lambert get killed early in the film?
The new 'Pacific Rim 2' trailer
Fans finally got a glimpse at John Boyega as the young Jaeger pilot Jake Pentecost in the first "Pacific Rim: Uprising" YouTube teaser. The son of Idris Elba's Stacker Pentecost appears to be the unspoken leader of the new team of pilots who are set to maneuver the sleek new Jaegers of the film.
In some scenes, it is revealed that Jake's co-pilot is Scott Eastwood's character.
The team-up between John Boyega and Scott Eastwood certainly looks like a great fit. However, another scene suggests that Jake gets paired up with Amara Namani (Cailee Spaeny). Could this mean that Nate Lambert will not be a Jaeger pilot for the better part of the movie?
It might be too soon to consider Scott Eastwood's character as a goner. After all, there is still the possibility that the pilot will team up with somebody else like Mako Mori to work with a different Jaeger. In the meantime, the "Uprising" trailer confirms that Mako's former co-workers will be back in the "Pacific Rim" sequel.
Newt and Gottlieb are back
Fans were understandably disappointed when Charlie Hunnam announced that he will not be a part of the film. Although Hunnam would not be returning as Raleigh Beckett, a different "Charlie" will be back to help Jake Pentecost save the world.
The teaser reveals that Charlie Day will reprise his role as Dr.
Newt Geiszler and he will once again be dealing with Dr. Hermann Gottlieb (Burn Gorman). The two characters only played supporting roles in the first film but could be the two people who will figure out how to make the Jaegers more powerful.
Raleigh's former co-pilot Mako Mori is also expected to play a significant role in "Pacific Rim: Uprising." The synopsis for the film suggests that Rinko Kikuchi's character will be the one to bring in her brother Jake Pentecost to help defend the world from a new army of Kaiju.
