The final season of "Game of Thrones" is already expected to be delayed, but it looks like the HBO series has found another setback. Kit Harington is reportedly asking for production to be halted so the cast and crew can attend his upcoming wedding to former co-star Rose Leslie.
Kit Harington's 'special request'
There is little doubt that a man's wedding day is one of the most important days of his life. Kit Harington is well aware of this and has decided to ask the "Game of Thrones" Season 8 producers for a "special request." According to Indiewire, the "Pompeii" actor asked that all of his friends from the show need to be present when he ties the knot with Rose Leslie.
In order for this to happen, Harington said that "the whole thing has got to shut down," meaning filming will need to be put on hold for a day.
The highly anticipated wedding is expected to be star-studded and will be attended by the cast and crew of "Game of Thrones." Interestingly, Harington blames producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss for making the event possible.
"I rang [the producer] up and I said, ‘I’m getting married and it’s your fault actually,'" Harington revealed. Although the real Jon Snow was only kidding, there is some truth behind the joke. He had met Leslie on the set of "Game of Thrones" when she played Jon's beloved Ygritte.
Harington has already admitted that there was instant chemistry between him and Leslie.
The two continued their friendship although Ygritte was killed off in the fourth season. Their relationship was confirmed when the couple attended a major event together and is expected to last long after the conclusion of the series where they first met.
Will the final season be delayed?
Fans are undoubtedly thrilled for Kit Harington and Rose Leslie, but a mere day of delay in production could mean that "Game of Thrones" Season 8 will premiere much later.
However, it looks like the wedding will have no lasting effect on the show's air date. After all, filming is already set to begin in October and will stretch out to the first half of 2018. Even if the people behind the series take a day off to attend the wedding, the premiere is still expected to be in early 2019.
Kit Harington and Rose Leslie's wedding date has not been announced, but fans believe the two will get married later this year. In the meantime, Harington will reprise his role as the King in the North in "Game of Thrones" Season 8.
