The biggest mystery of the new "Star Wars" trilogy is still the identity of Rey's parents. People are still wondering who had decided to leave the young girl on the planet Jakku as if to keep her away from the rest of the galaxy. But is it possible that the truth about Rey will finally be revealed in "Star Wars: The Last Jedi?" Some believe that Daisy Ridley's fellow cast member has teased on Rey's true heritage.
Not much is known about Luke Skywalker's new apprentice. In "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," fans learned that Rey was left with Unkar Plutt when she was just a child and has been waiting for her family to return to her ever since.
But is there a political reason as to why Rey was forced to live in isolation? The truth might finally come to light in "Episode 8" although the cast has known about it from the start.
Adam Driver drops a shocking 'Star Wars' spoiler
In an interview with British GQ, Adam Driver spoke about what got him interested in taking on the role of Kylo Ren in the new trilogy. The "Silence" actor explained that director JJ Abrams saw the character as someone who is pretending to be somebody else. The Driver stated that Kylo is "a vulnerable kid who doesn't know where to put his energy, but when he puts his mask on, suddenly, he's playing a role." He then added that the new "Star Wars" storyline had another interesting aspect related to the trilogy's other main character.
"You have, also, the hidden identity of this princess who's hiding who she is so she can survive and Kylo Ren and her hiding behind these artifices," Adam Driver stated. Some believe that he was referring to Daisy Ridley's character, who might be the descendant of a Sith Lord who eventually became the first Galactic Emperor.
Rey might be Emperor Palpatine's last surviving descendant
There are speculations that Rey could be related to Darth Sidious, which would explain why she ended up in Jakku. Some believe that the girl was kept hidden until the First Order is powerful enough to take on the Alliance. It is possible that Rey is expected to play a large role in Supreme Leader Snoke's plans to rule the galaxy.
The idea of Rey being a princess as well as a relative of the evilest villain in the "Star Wars" universe is certainly shocking. However, Rey's true identity still remains a huge secret. Find out if Adam Driver was telling the truth when "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" hits theaters on December 15. Stay tuned.
