Nicole Kidman, the 50-year old actress, won her first Emmy Award as an Oustanding Lead Actress for "Big Little Lies" series. The actress gave her touching acceptance speech as she took the stage. Kidman beat other Emmy nominees like Carrie Coon, Susan Sarandon, Jessica Lange, and even her co-star, Reese Witherspoon.
As she expressed her words of thanks to the crowd, Kidman didn't fail to mention Reese on her speech. The actress expressed, "Reese, I share this with you." She also thanked the Television Academy, the HBO network, and Liane Moriarty, the "Big Little Lies" writer, as she accepted her award.
In tears, while facing the audience
The Entertainment Tonight reported that Kidman was in tears as she delivered her acceptance speech to the crowd. She dedicated her first Emmy trophy to her kids and to her husband, Keith Urban. She also thanked her family for understanding her whenever she came home late. She revealed that her family helped a lot in pursuing her acting career.
Everyone became emotional when Kidman made mention of her duties being a mom. The actress also went emotional when she stared at her husband sitting in the audience.
On the other hand, the actress was also thankful that her acting career has given the chance to deliver a bigger message to her fans. Kidman reportedly mentioned about domestic abuse on her speech.
As for her, winning an Emmy for the first time is her way of giving hopes to the abused.
Big night for 'Big Little Lies'
The 2017 Emmy was indeed one of the biggest nights for the "Big Little Lies" family. Reports from ET revealed that other stars like Laura Dern and Alexander Skarsgard also had their respective awards.
Following the awards night, Kidman and other stars celebrated their victory at the HBO after party.
According to People, everyone from the series was happy with the nominations they greceived during the Emmys. Witherspoon and Kidman reportedly celebrated the night at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood.
Meanwhile, Witherspoon also added that she is happy for the kind of family that they are building with HBO. It was revealed that "Big Little Lies" got numbers of nominations from the different categories.
Witherspoon continued that it took them a long time to create better roles for women in the series. Meanwhile, as Kidman accepted her Emmy on Sunday, her husband was spotted not far from her side and has supported her the entire night.
