The recently concluded seventh season of “Game of Thrones” revealed a lot of unexpected twists and turns that definitely surprised its fans. Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) finally agreed to join Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) in the Great War against the White Walkers, thanks to Tyrion Lannister’s (Peter Dinklage) convincing powers.
But, it looked like the Queen of Westeros has a different plan in mind. Cersei will just use the coming battle to bring Daenerys, Jon and their armies down. And when she revealed this scheme to Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), he was utterly disgusted and left her behind to fulfill his honor and promise in “Game of Thrones” Season 8.
Jaime’s realization
Bookworms have been waiting for so long for this thing to happen. Jaime didn't just walk away from Cersei but he also left their incestuous relationship.
This has already happened in George R.R. Martin’s 2015 novel, “A Feast for Crows.” It is the fourth book in the “A Song of Ice and Fire” series, which the television show is based on.
So, book readers have been complaining about the slow transition of Jaime’s character. In fact, in an interview with Huffington Post, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau himself thinks that his role and Cersei’s separation has been long overdue.
“We’ve been waiting for that moment a long time,” the 47-year-old star revealed. He went on to say that there were a lot of times that he thought Jaime was going to leave, but she believed that Cersei took it beyond his acceptable limits.
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was not even sure why Jaime took a little while before he finally realized that Cersei was turning into a big monster. “But he finally did. And then he left,” he said. Now, it is a big question where is he heading this time, which will be definitely seen in “Game of Thrones” Season 8.
The prophecy
Jaime Lannister is expected to make his way to the North and help Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen battle the Great War in “Game of Thrones” Season 8.
In “A Song of Ice and Fire” series, Jaime is so over Cersei to the point that he is throwing her letters for him into the fire.
Now that he realized how crazy her sister is, does Maggie the Frog’s prophecy will finally come to life? Some expect Jaime will kill Cersei in the season finale of the previous season. As it never happened, a lot of fans believe that it may take place in the television show’s swan song. There are also hearsays that they might end up killing each other.
