Ragnar Lothbrok may be dead in "Vikings" but that didn't stop Travis Fimmel from making an unexpected appearance at the show's panel at the San Diego Comic-Con. The "Warcraft" actor surprised his former cast mates as he showed up in a fox onesie.

Fans had been concerned that Travis Fimmel would no longer appear at the "Vikings" SDCC panel since the death of Ragnar Lothbrok.

However, the former lead star still managed to crash the presentation in the most fun way possible.

The weird guy in the fox

The "Vikings" panel started off without a hitch as Katheryn Winnick, Gustav Skarsgard, Alexander Ludwig and Alex Høgh Andersen answered questions alongside creator Michael Hirst. However, things got rather interesting when a weird guy in a fox onesie asked the cast to sign his Viking shield via YouTube.

The cast was happy to oblige the "enthusiastic" fan who was invited by Winnick on stage. The audience was delighted as the fox man was allowed to join the cast and give the actress a big hug.

However, it looked like Skarsgard already knew who the weird guy was. The real Floki ripped off the fox's mask, making the man leap into Ludwig. As it turns out, the "fan" had been Travis Fimmel all along.

The audience erupted into applause as Fimmel embraced his former cast mates. The actor's return was certainly a welcome surprise especially since the SDCC panel was followed by an honorary funeral for Ragnar Lothbrok.

Ragnar Lothbrok honored in Viking funeral

Soon after the panel concluded, fans were invited to join the cast for a presentation at Embarcadero Marina Park South where a replica of a Viking longship was burned as a tribute to the departed characters of the series, as per YouTube.

Ragnar Lothbrok was the main honoree at the event.

What to expect in 'Vikings' Season 5

Fans also witnessed the debut of the new "Vikings" season 5 trailer, which confirms more conflict for Ragnar Lothbrok's sons. It appears that Ubbe is unhappy with Ivar the Boneless for killing their brother Sigurd and has decided to ally himself with Lagertha.

The alliance between Ragnar's eldest son with Aslaug and the Queen of Kattegat is not a welcome idea for Ivar, who has every intention to kill Lagertha. Needless to say, the crippled son of Ragnar could end up working with King Harald Finehair to avenge his murdered mother.

Could this mean the end of Lagertha? Find out who will survive the civil war when the series returns to History on November 29, as per The Nerd Recites.
