Season 2 plot details
Season 2 opens with a time jump one year into the future.
It is 1984 and the boys are back in school trying to get back to their normal lives. Will is trying his best to move on but the time he spent on the Upside Down continues to haunt him. He suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and starts to see things (as hinted in the cliffhanger in the Season 1 finale).
Meanwhile, Joyce starts dating a former classmate named Bob Newby (Sean Astin) and Chief Hopper continues to keep his end of the bargain and keep quiet about the Upside Down. Mike is still sad over Eleven’s disappearance and Nancy still grieves over Barb’s death (rumors have it that she is still alive).
Hawkins Lab is still active and fans believe there are more Eleven being experimented on inside the facility.
Speculations point to Papa/Dr. Brenner’s return to continue with his tests on these gifted children. After all, no one really saw him die when the Demogorgon attacked him in Season 1.
More monsters in “Stranger Things” Season 2
The poster hinted at another threat that awaits our young heroes. Waiting in the eye of the storm, appears to be a huge creature with spider legs.
This seems like the same monster featured in the trailer for “Stranger Things” Season 2.
This huge spider-like creature may not be the only threat in the installment though. More monsters from the Upside Down are bound to come out from hiding. Creators Matt and Ross Duffer previously confirmed that Season 2 will explore the dark dimension and, of course, this means including its inhabitants.
“So we’ve opened up this doorway, and to us it’s exciting to talk about, like, what else is behind there? There’s a lot more mystery there to be solved,” Ross told Entertainment Weekly about exploring The Upside Down in Season 2.
Interestingly, Season 1 may have given a hint to the arrival of these other monsters. Viewers may remember that Hopper stumbled upon what appears to be an embryo, when he and Joyce went inside the Upside Down to save Will.
