Jason Momoa, who played the unfortunate Khal Drogo in season 1, recently spoke about his excitement about the show’s final season. The “Aquaman” star teased at how “Game of Thrones” Season 8 ends. He assured fans that the final season is going to blow people’s minds.
Season 8 is going to be epic
Momoa sat down for a brief interview with Entertainment Weekly recently, where he talked about the final season and reminisced about his time in the show. He could not contain his excitement to see the end of the series back on screen, especially after what he learned from his recent visit to Belfast.
According to the publication, Momoa accidentally learned some top-secret details about the final season during his visit to the studios. Of course, he refused to give away spoilers, but assured viewers that Season 8 is going to be “amazing.” “It’s going to be the greatest thing that’s ever aired on TV. It’s going to be unbelievable. It’s going to f— up a lot of people,” Momoa said. Similar to fans who do not want to hear or read spoilers for “Game of Thrones” season 8, he is bummed out that he knows how the show ends. Momoa admitted that he did not want to know what is going to happen.
Khal Drogo’s death
Momoa also reminisced about his character’s death in season 1. He said that it would have been better if the Dothraki leader died in battle and not from an infected wound.
Momoa looked back on a scene from season 4, when the Dothraki rode into battle on their horses. He considered it a perfect moment for Khal Drogo to have died.
Khal Drogo resurrection
In the same interview, Momoa talked about his recent visit to Belfast. He revealed that he went there only to see producers Dan Weiss and David Benioff, but ended up hanging out with his friends who were on the set during his visit.
He admitted that he has always wanted to meet Kristofer Hivju, who plays Tormund, and finally got to do so during his set visit. Momoa denied fans’ speculation about his character’s return to “Game of Thrones” season 8. He does not see how Khal Drogo would fit in the final season’s storyline.
However, the season 7 finale says otherwise.
Fans believe that it was a pivotal moment when Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) made love. This supposedly sets up Khal Drogo’s return.
In George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire,” the old witch Mirri Maz Duur predicted the Dothraki warlord’s resurrection. When Daenerys asked when Khal Drogo would return to her, she said, “When your womb quickens again, and you bear a living child. Then he will return, and not before." The common theory is that Daenerys becomes pregnant with Jon Snow/Aegon Targaryen’s child in “Game of Thrones” season 8. This then fulfills Mirri Maz Duur’s prophecy about Drogo’s resurrection.
