After the long wait, “Rick and Morty” is finally returning for its third season on Sunday. The premiere episode that dropped back in April Fools will air back to back with the second episode on July 30, 2017, giving a some of the fans who didn’t watch the unexpected airing of the first episode a chance to catch up.
Harmon, Roiland, and ‘The Art of Alts’
After releasing a few hilarious teaser clips and previews these past few months, Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland finally decided to share their writing process and a handful of alternate jokes that never made it into the show.
In the clip titled “The Art of Alts,” Harmon and Roiland share a list of alternate lines for a random alien in the famous Roy scene back in season 2.
Roiland begins reading through a few funny lines written with the voice of the character. The process of how Harmon and Roiland do this is pretty amazing. The video gives us a quick look on how each scene could possibly contain different possibilities like how there are different versions of Rick Sanchez in different dimensions. You can watch the clip below.

Alongside this, we also got a new entry in the claymation “Rick and Morty” mini-series in Adult Swim. In this latest clip, we see the cute little “Gremlin” monster Gizmo, sitting side by side with an injured Morty. Rick in this clip is playing the character, Mr. Wing, paying back Morty after the return of the Mogwai.
Seeing Morty in bad shape in this clip is pretty dark. However, considering how the show handled Morty in the past, this clip still pales in comparison. This hopefully hints for the Gremlins’ appearance in one of the episodes this season. You can watch the clip below.
Rick and Morty’s return

The last season ended in October back in 2015, leaving the fans craving for more Rick-diculous adventures. Back in April this year, Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland decided to treat the fans with the first episode to ease the pain of waiting.
Back in June, Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland finally decided to release an official trailer for the show. The trailer gave us a glimpse of what the season has in store waiting for us, including a hilarious "Mad Max" themed episode. Check out the official trailer for season 3 below.
Alongside the trailer's release, they also announced that the show would return on July 30, 2017. The premiere episode will air back to back with the second episode.
