Earlier this week, Linkin Park co-founder Mike Shinoda took to Instagram and expressed the band's support of hundreds of tributes organized for Chester Bennington. The 40-year-old rapper, who endorsed over 300 memorials for Bennington worldwide, encouraged avid fans of Linkin Park to gather and commemorate his bandmate. Some of the places expected to hold the tributes include Los Angeles, Vancouver, Paris, Copenhagen, Japan, and more.
Shinoda also shared a Google doc file containing a list of other memorial places with corresponding dates.
Meanwhile, other memorials have already taken place in different locations, such as in Burbank and New York City. However, fans unable to participate during the previous tributes still have the chance to remember Chester, as Linkin Park approved events across Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, and South America. Those interested in holding their own memorials for Bennington are also encouraged to do so. Apparently, fans need to make a public Facebook event and inform the band by sending them a private message.
It remains unclear if the band will attend any of these events.
Mike Shinoda reminds everyone with suicidal thoughts to seek help
In the same Instagram post, Mike also reiterated that it's best to reach out and ask for help in case someone is having suicidal thoughts. Shinoda reminded their fans about the suicide prevention website that they launched in honor of Bennington. It can be recalled that shortly after Chester's death, Linkin Park created a page on the band's official website dedicated to suicide prevention. The site chester.linkinpark.com features various suicide prevention resources, such as hotline numbers and messaging services.
Dave Farell's emotional message
On the other hand, Linkin Park bassist Dave "Phoenix" Farell shared a heartfelt message to his fans addressing his bandmate's death.
On Saturday, Farell took to Twitter and expressed his gratitude to fans for their unwavering support.
"A huge part of Chester's legacy will be the memories we hold of him in our hearts. He was an enthusiastic, playful father... an honest and passionate musician, and a loyal friend."
Farell also asked fans to share pictures of the tributes they've held for Bennington. The 40-year-old bassist re-tweeted some of the tributes from all over the world, including New York, the Czech Republic, and Chile.
Chester's private funeral
Despite earlier reports that Bennington's family wanted a private memorial, sources close to the Linkin Park frontman noted that the family is still trying to figure out how to give fans their final moment with Chester. For now, the family is eager to reserve his memorial for close friends and family members only.
