There were several new revelations in "Game of Thrones" Season 7 Episode 2 but fans who have been hoping for an update on the Azor Ahai theory finally got what they have been looking for. In "Stormborn," Missandei confirmed that the term doesn't necessarily imply a male could be the long-awaited savior.
The confirmation that Azor Ahai could be a woman immediately had people wondering if Daenerys Targaryen is the real messiah, as per Vulture. But is it possible that this also hinted on the possibility that "valonqar" doesn't mean "little brother"?
'Valonqar' might be a 'little sister'
It's no secret that Cersei Lannister will meet her end at the hands of "valonqar, " and there have been theories that her killer might be either Tyrion or Jaime (via Refinery29). However, the possibility of a "little sister" assassinating the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms might finally be more than just a mere hypothesis.
So who will kill Cersei in "Game of Thrones"? Fans believe that Arya Stark is still up to the challenge although she has decided to go back to Winterfell in "Stormborn."
Is Arya Stark the real 'valonqar'?
Arya continues to be a major contender as Cersei Lannister's future assassin. Some believe that Ned Stark's youngest daughter will eventually find her way to King's Landing to scratch off the biggest name in her murder list.
In addition to that, several clues could confirm the theory.
In George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series, Jon Snow often refers to Arya as "little sister." If the term "valonqar" can be translated to have no gender, there is a huge possibility that the youngest Stark will be the one to kill Cersei in the final season.
Will Arya take the Iron Throne?
Maisie Williams has previously revealed that she wants to see Arya Stark on the Iron Throne by the end of the HBO series. The "iBoy" actress stated that the final ruler might "whip their face off and it’s Arya instead." She added that she has had the dream for a long time.
Although this is highly unlikely, there is no shortage of Arya theories in "Game of Thrones" Season 7.
There is a possibility that Sansa Stark teased on her younger sister being her sole protector while Jon Snow is away from Winterfell. Could this mean that Arya will eventually rid Sansa of Petyr Baelish by killing Littlefinger by the end of the seventh season?
"Game of Thrones" Season 7 Episode 3 will premiere on HBO on July 30.
