"General Hospital" rumors are swirling this week. There has been a lot of talk about two characters exiting this summer, though who still remains a mystery. Initially, it was believed that the Jerome siblings would be ousted from Port Charles. Julian (Willam deVry) has been used sparingly and is reportedly in contract negotiations and Ava (Maura West) was badly burned in a fire.

It has since been confirmed that Ava will be sticking around Port Charles despite her life-threatening injuries. There has been no official word on Julian, but it appears he may stick around as well.

New 'General Hospital' rumors

Today, it appears that Celeb Dirty Laundry is reporting Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Dr. Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) will be leaving Port Charles. As of now, there has been no confirmation if the two are planning to leave "General Hospital" or if it was a decision made by TPTB. Either way, this is sad news but not necessarily shocking. Dr. Obrecht has not been used much over the last few years.

When she was introduced to the show she was in a big storyline and once that was over, she was dropped to recurring. The news about Dante comes as a surprise since he is one of two main police officers in Port Charles and has a family. Lulu (Emme Rylan) and Dante have been a staple on screen for years now and his rumored departure makes no sense.

There has been a lot of talk about the bloated cast "General Hospital" has. Many of the core characters have been set on the back burner and only come to life when the situation warrants it. The main focus has been Carly (Laura Wright) and Sonny (Maurice Benard). Fans haven't seen much of Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), Laura (Genie Francis), Felicia (Kristina Wagner), and Mac (John York) in months.

Laura has been around more now that the storylines have focused on her grandchildren and family, but not nearly as much as fans would like.

New characters

It was announced recently that James DePaiva (formerly Max Holden from "One Life to Life") would be joining the cast. There is no information on who he will play or if he will retain his role as Max on "General Hospital." While this is exciting news for fans who miss him on the small screen, it isn't impressive for those who want to see the actual characters the show has used.

"General Hospital" has some summer storylines that are reportedly going to help boost ratings. Right now, everything is a "wait and see" deal and if these exit rumors are true, fans may jump ship for good.
