"General Hospital" has a new man coming to town. A few months ago, it was announced that ABC regained all of the rights back to the now-defunct soaps, "All My Children" and "One Life to Live." Since then, there have been speculations about who they could or would use in Port Charles. So far, viewers have seen Alex Devane Marick (Finola Hughes) and Nora Buchanan (Hillary B. Smith) reprise their roles from the other soaps while on "General Hospital."
Max Holden headed to Port Charles?
According to Soap Opera Digest, James Depaiva is joining "General Hospital." The news was announced by video on the Facebook page for the popular soap.
No details were made available, and the video only lasted 11 seconds. DePaiva is known for his role as Max Holden on "One Life to Live." He was a fan favorite, and left the role in 2003. His on-screen love turned into his real-life love as he married co-star, Kassie DePaiva who played Blair Kramer. Ironically, Kassie came to "General Hospital" for a short stint when "One Life to Live" went off the air alongside Michael Easton, Kristen Alderson, and Roger Howarth.
James DePaiva will be a nice addition to "General Hospital," especially for the fans who watched him as Max Holden. He has worked with several of the other actors on the show, and likely knows some of the others pretty well.
This news comes on the heels of his wife, Kassie DePaiva announcing she is cancer-free and returning to her role as Eve Donovan on "Days of Our Lives."
Where will he fit in on 'General Hospital?'
Right now, the lack of details has fans perplexed. James DePaiva could literally come onto the show as anyone. While it would be nice to see him in a role fans are already familiar with, it could be beneficial for him to come in as someone else.
There has been a lot of chatter about the lack of hospital staff on the show and how the writers had intended to bring the show back to center around the hospital. DePaiva could be brought on as a doctor, one that would give Finn (Michael Easton) a run for his money.
"General Hospital" fans have been voicing their opinion about the news since the video was added to Facebook.
There are some comments reflecting excitement while others are concerned about adding another character while not using the ones the have on the payroll already. The next few weeks should be revealing as James DePaiva joins the cast of "General Hospital" and makes himself at home in Port Charles.
