In the last quarter of 2016, fans of Adult Swim's science fiction sitcom were holding out on the announcement for "Rick and Morty" season 3. The vagueness of the details for the said season was worrying the fans, arousing speculations that the series would be canceled. Thankfully, recent news revealed that the third installment of the series is already in the production stage.
According to reports, the voice cast has already assembled and are already working on the episodes for season 3, debunking the fans' concern that the series might be canceled.
For those who missed Mike McMahan's viral post on Twitter last Feb. 19., the staff writer of "Rick And Morty" Season 3 gave the fans a delightful treat as he posted a photo of the script for episode 301. The said Twitter post further elaborated that recording has also begun that day. With the said developments, fans are hopeful that the first episode of season 3 might be aired anytime before 2017 ends.
What caused the delay for the animation?
At the Sundance Film Festival, series co-creator, Dan Harmon, admitted that he, together with co-creator Justin, were to be blamed for the delay. According to him, the series was taking longer and longer to write, and they couldn't actually pin down the reason why. Is this a foreboding that season 3 will be the final season of the franchise?
Due to the obvious delay of the series developments, various speculations have been floating around, some of which include an internal disagreement between the writers and producers. Dan Harmon clarified that issue and said that there is no truth to the said speculations and the "Rick And Morty" air date relied solely on Adult Swim's discretion.
Serious, emotional, parody plot?
The premiere season of Adult Swim's science fiction animation had an emotional and severe tone. The second season was a clear contrast to the pioneer season, with the viewers getting an overall hint of parody and satire jokes. Now that it is all set for season 3, the viewers are at a loss as to what the plot or theme of the animation might be. As of writing this article, the air date for the animated series is still undetermined. Stay tuned to Blasting News for more updates!
