Recently, it has been reported that ratings for the TLC show, Jill & Jessa: Counting On, have drastically dropped. There have also been reports that sponsors are pulling their ads from the show citing the controversy revolving around the Duggar family as the reason.
Josh Duggar hurting family
Ever since news broke about two different stories involving Josh Duggar, the entire Duggar family has had to deal with the consequences.
First it was released that Josh had sexually molested his younger sisters when he was a teenager. Just as the family had finally dug out of the hole this scandal had created, another scandal broke. It was discovered that Josh had an account on the website, Ashley Madison. This site exists for the sole purpose of helping spouses cheat. Josh eventually admitted that not only did he have the account, but he had also cheated on his wife, Anna, more than once and had a porn addiction. TLC cancelled the Duggar family show, 19 Kids and Counting, after the backlash from the scandals, but replaced it with another Duggar show, Jill & Jessa: Counting On.
Are ratings dropping?
It has been widely reported that sponsors are pulling their ads from Jill & Jessa: Counting On and that ratings have dropped for the show. The Duggar family came out today on their family blog showing the viewership stats for each episode. In a post to Facebook they said, "Many news media outlets are trying to make it seem like the Duggars are unable to draw a TV audience. We'll let you decide for yourselves." The stats show one thing for sure, the viewership for Jill & Jessa: Counting On is nowhere near the viewership 19 Kids and Counting had. Jill & Jessa: Counting On has yet to break two million, while 19 Kids and Counting regularly broke two million and even broke three million once.
Jill & Jessa: Counting On had an all-time high with the premiere episode of 1.9 million while the rest of the season has averaged around 1.3 million.
So what do you think about the ratings? Do you think the Duggars are desperate to keep a Duggar show on air for the income? Do you think the ratings are dropping off and the show will not be renewed or do you think the show is doing fine? Leave your feedback in the comments below and tune in for the final episode of season one on Tuesday, May 3,2016, at 9/8c on TLC.
