Readers might remember Kathy Griffin’s lovely experience after her image posing with a mock up of a severed Donald Trump head got around. A lot of people took offense at this. I took offense at all of those that took that offense. It was hyperbole produced by a comedian, and she is not sorry, nor should she be!

Remember free speech and the Constitution of the United States of America

Comedy is an effective political tool and can be used to gently change public opinion, often for the better. It is a right afforded by the Constitution of the United States of America, the right of free speech.

It was once a hallowed and protected right. We, as a nation, should remember the text of our Constitution or the rights and privileges of being American might soon be no more.

Those that took offense may do well to remember those images of a lynched Obama that went around social media. Which is more offensive again?! If you’re not a racist, and you know history, then it’s a given that a lynched Obama was a much more offensive image. Where were these usurpers of the freedom of speech back then?!

Kathy Griffin tells us where to stick her apology and why

“I am no longer sorry. The whole outrage was B.S.. The whole thing got so blown out of proportion. I lost everybody,” said Kathy Griffin on Australian talk show, "Sunrise." She went on to say, “ I didn’t just lose one night on CNN.

My entire tour was canceled within 24 hours, because every single theater got all these death threats,” and she added, “The Trump fans they’re hardcore. And they're a minority but they know how to act like a majority.”

When the Australian talk show host kept reiterating the question as to whether or not her picture was actually offensive, the Kathy Griffin we all know and love came back in classic style, saying, “No.

You’re full of crap. Stop this. Stop acting like my little picture is more important than talking about the actual atrocities that the President of the United States is committing."

Anderson Cooper, Republicans, and wayward Democrats

It’s important to note that she didn’t just get flack from Republicans, but from notable Democrats like Anderson Cooper, as well.

Cooper went so far as to say he was, “appalled by the photo shoot,” saying it was “clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate.”

It’s my right, privilege, and duty to say, shame on all of you! Who are you to forget what it means to be a Democrat? Who are you to decide when free speech is “ok” and when it’s not?! You may not agree with what Kathy Griffin did, but it is your duty as a citizen and a Democrat to defend her right to do it. That’s how Democracy and free speech works friends!

So Kathy Griffin rescinds her apology. I support her 1000%. It is free speech. It is important to note that free speech is legal. In the Art of the Deal, Donald Trump calls his lying, “truthful hyperbole,” a lie in and of itself.

The Trump head image was taken by a comedian! It is the very essence of hyperbole! What I think might be wrong with our country today is that too many either forgot or just don’t care how hard won our rights are so they are just letting them be stamped out. If that is how it is to be, we might as well be Russia.
