Recently, Niantic has been introducing changes to “Pokemon GO.” While none of them are to be considered major, they are still significant in one way or another. After all, this is how the studio keeps the game interesting.
However, there is actually a massive change in “Pokemon GO,” and most players might have yet to notice it. According to ComicBook, it involves the game’s egg pools.
Changes to the game’s egg pools
It is worth noting that from time to time, Niantic tinkers with some of the in-game features. So, it is not a surprise if they do the same thing with the egg pools. However, the update is said to be frustrating, as per the findings accumulated by the Reddit community, The Silph Road. That is because the update resulted in a huge drop in several pocket monsters from their egg pools. Obviously, this is something that is quite alarming.
Keep in mind that in “Pokemon GO,” egg pools determine the kind of creature that hatches from a certain egg. To keep it balanced and, well, interesting, Niantic changes its structure periodically or whenever necessary.
They will sometime pull out certain pocket monsters and/or add rarer creatures. Either way, players do not have the concrete idea unless the studio says so. Apparently, though, the studio did the same change last month just before the Anniversary Event. However, players were uncertain if the changes introduced were permanent or temporary. The recent discovery from The Silph Road says the former, though.
A huge drop
The biggest change from this update is the removal of some well-known “Pokemon GO” monsters from their egg pools. For instance, Squirtle, Charmander, and Bulbasaur were all removed from their respective egg pools last month.
So what does this mean?
Well, it means that for players to capture them, they will have to literally find them in the wild.
Although it is unofficial, the studio might have done this to prioritize the Gen 2 starters from the Gen 1 starters. Apparently, other fan favorite Pokemon such as Ekans, Vulpix, Yanma, Magnemite, and Staryu were also removed from their egg pools.
While there is a drop, there is also inclusion in “Pokemon GO.” Yes, that is right – Niantic also added a few pocket monsters. Interestingly, some of them were actually added at the beginning of the Anniversary Event in July. As expected, all of the Pokemon added are second generation creatures. Some were uncommon, while others were reportedly rare. These are Chikorita, Totodile, Cyndaquil, Houndour, Snubbull, Hoppin, Chinchou, and Natu, among others.
