Pokemon GO” is without a doubt one of the most successful mobile games in the industry. With millions of players from around the world, Niantic continues to top the competition. However, it does not mean that the game is free from bugs and/or issues.

In a report from Comic Book, it was mentioned that another bug has invaded “Pokemon GO” recently. Like any other bugs in the past, this one also frustrates the community. Here is everything about it in a nutshell.

A new bug identified

The hit mobile game is once again suffering from a bug related to the catch system.

It is worth noting, though, that this issue is not really new to the fandom. That is because players have been complaining about it ever since the problem began. However, it was only recently that the Niantic acknowledged it. According to the developers, the game does not necessarily apply curveball bonuses whenever players try to catch a pocket monster. Basically, when a curveball is used, players are meant to receive bonuses when they hit a Pokemon. But instead, players noticed that the curveball must first cross the middle of the screen for the system to register as a curveball. This happens whether or not the ball really curves.

For some “Pokemon GO” players, this method is not perfect or not working correctly.

That is because even the most perfect curveball in the game does not always register with the system. This bug has been messing up the gameplay experience of the fandom. It completely affects their chances of capturing a Legendary Pokemon or Raid Bosses. Remember that players can at least acquire 1.7x catch multiplier if and only if they can hit a creature using the ball.

This is enough to make a huge difference when catching tricky species such as Lugia and Raikou, among others.

The numbers involved

The efficiency of the curveball affects a player’s chances of capturing the most powerful creatures in “Pokemon GO.” For instance, if players are able to hit a Lugia using a straight throw of at least 9 percent chance, they can trigger almost all the catch bonuses in the game.

But with the bug, the chances of doing so is almost close to zero. These odds increase to at least 15 percent if they hit the Pokemon with a curveball.

Niantic is working on a fix in “Pokemon GO.” The studio has already announced their intention to investigate and find the root cause. This means that it may take some time before the bug can finally be removed.
