Doomfist has received a minor change in one of his abilities. The hero’s Rocket Punch has been recently nerfed on the “Overwatch” Public Test Realm. The latest change has drawn varying reactions from the community.

Doomfist

Game Director Jeff Kaplan has recently revealed that Genji and Mercy topped the list of heroes’ most played in the Quick Play and Competitive modes of the game.

However, Doomfist has been the dominant DPS hero used by players in both Competitive Ladder and Quick Play. The hero was even played for a significant time during the Season Four of OGN “Overwatch” Apex in Korea.

Some players who are playing against the seismic-slamming hero hate him because he is a tough opponent to beat. One of his fan-favorite abilities, Rocket Punch, has only four seconds cooldown but does a massive damage to the enemies. Moreover, this can be used when to escape harm is on the way.

Latest update

An update hit the game’s Public Test Realm servers last August 18. The update has apparently nerfed the Nigerian hero’s Rocket Punch.

The hitbox for the hero’s Rocket Punch appears to be less wide on the powerful attack. In other words, the player needs to be more accurate to be able to land a Rocket Punch. The cool down seems to be the same as well as the damage.

The latest nerf on one of the hero’s abilities will somehow bring him down a bit. Many players view Rocket Punch as an unbelievably flexible move that needs to be toned down a bit. It is worth noting that a few weeks after Doomfist was officially released in the game’s live servers, there were several players who hated him for his abilities and raised a suggestion to Blizzard to tone him down. Blizzard has responded to these complaints, and it seems that the recent change in the PTR is the start.

On Reddit, a user by the name byboomstick shared a GIF to depict the recent change to Doomfist’s Rocket Punch.

Console Reporting feature

Meanwhile, Jeff Kaplan recently announced that the most requested reporting and penalty system that is only currently available on PC will be coming to the consoles soon. The game director revealed that the feature is included in Patch 1.14 that is currently on the game’s PTR. It will be released alongside the latest Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch modes. Fans are hoping that with the release of the reporting and penalty system in the console, the problem with the level of toxicity in the “Overwatch” community will be eradicated if not lessened.
