There is a new game mode aside from Deathmatch that fans of Blizzard’s first-person shooter title can enjoy. A fan made “Overwatch” Zombies-like mode called infection is recently released by its maker and is now playable online.

New game mode

Blizzard recently released an announcement of the launch of Deathmatch and Team Deathmatch modes in “Overwatch.” The modes are currently in the game’s Public Test Realm and will soon be released along with other significant heroes’ changes and console reporting feature. The new Deathmatch mode has received positive feedback from fans as it’s a new and refreshing way to play the game.

However, while fans are still waiting for the new mode’s official release in the game’s live servers, a new fan-made Zombies game mode for Blizzard’s first-person shooter game is making rounds online. On Reddit, a user by the name ItsDeltin shared his latest creation. The Redditor has made a bot program that apparently forces the player to switch to the other team when the player dies. This creates an effect that the player becomes Infected, thus making the zombies-like mode the creator dub as, Infection.

How to play Infection?

The player will be a survivor and will play as Torbjorn. The hero’s turrets can be utilized to create makeshifts that will act as barriers to restrict the undead from getting near the player.

On the other hand, the zombies are played by Reinhardt. When Reinhardt kills a Torbjorn, the player dies and switches sides and apparently becomes a zombie.

The survivor wins the mode when the time runs out and is still alive. On the other hand, zombies win if all the survivors are dead. It’s a new way of playing the game for those who are bored and complaining about the game’s Meta.

Unfortunately, players need to use the site set up by the Redditor to get an invitation to the custom lobby in order to play the game. You can check out the trailer of the Infection below.

In Blizzard’s first-person shooter game, players are being offered with a plethora of fantasy elements. Fans play with Omnic Robots. There is also a talking and very smart fighting Gorilla.

Aside from those, players get to interact with a British woman who time-travels. The game developer, however, has not yet featured the undead, the infected, or the zombies.

This kind of creation like the recent Zombies-like mode called Infection is a new way of showing that the game has more to offer to the community. Aside from this, this also shows how creative and talented the game’s community is. The latest mode has great potential of becoming an Arcade mode in “Overwatch.”
