“Overwatch” quickly rose to fame following its release last year. Players immediately bought and played the title without hesitation. This without a doubt made the game among the best of 2016.
According to Fortune, “Overwatch” continues to drive success, giving Activision Blizzard the sales growth it needs. Now, analysts are suggesting that the company will experience sales surge in the next few months or so. Well, here is everything about it in a nutshell.
Analysts’ reports
It is worth noting that the company just recently raised its full-year adjusted revenue and profit forecasts for the second time.
This is all thanks to the benefits reaped from higher digital sales of the aforementioned title. The game’s popularity has allowed Activision Blizzard to adjust its profit to a whopping $2 per share from $1.88 per share. Heck, its adjusted revenue is event expected to hit $6.58 billion from $6.33 billion. Clearly, the numbers speak nothing but success.
In a report from Thomson Reuter, the above-mentioned figure can still increase slightly. The profit share may hit $2.02 while the revenue goes as high as $6.54 billion. Activision Blizzard, on the other hand, forecasted a current-quarter adjustment on revenue of at least $1.70 billion. Obviously, this is way too high compared to the said report from the publication.
Analysts further note that as soon as “Destiny 2” arrives, these numbers may even soar high. The studio announced that the sequel, which is to be released come September 6, is already high above the original game in terms of pre-order sales.
Thanks to the shooter title
As clear as the sky, this sales success is all thanks to “Overwatch.” The game has become one of the most successful shooter title ever released in the history of video gaming.
In fact, its player pool continues to receive millions of players from around the globe, as reported by PVP Live. This increase is a direct result of Blizzard’s commitment to keeping the game well-balanced and interesting. But how exactly did the title earn these milestones? Apart from the in-game mechanics, the title offers a very interesting lore outside of the game.
As a matter of fact, the company has capitalized on this by introducing graphic materials and other forms of merchandise.
The success of “Overwatch” even went to eSports. With the upcoming launch of “Overwatch League,” the game’s popularity is expected to bloom further. This is most especially that the League will feature some of the most prominent teams in the field of eSports. It is worth noting that Activision Blizzard already has made a deal with Twitch. The latter will be the one responsible in live-streaming the competition.
