HMD Global, the Finnish Company which licensed the rights to produce nokia phones has sent out media invites to unveil its flagship Nokia Android Phone on August 16. The unveiling Event will take place in London and the news comes just a few days after an image of the Nokia 8 handset in copper was leaked out. With the new series, Nokia has forayed into Android, the company has already outed the Nokia 6 which is poised to hit the US shelves. HMD also unveiled the Nokia 5 at the MWC in February this year.

This beauty is rumored to come in three colors, which are Copper, Blue, and Silver.

HMD is also rekindling Nokia’s old partnership with Carl Zeiss optics by using their lenses in the new Nokia 8 handset. The Zeiss camera lenses were a marketing USP for the iconic N95 smartphone and the Nokia 808 along with the PureView handsets.

How will the Nokia 8 be priced?

After the success of the previous handsets, HMD has to give the market a premium handset which is not just stickered with respected labels but is also user-friendly and not as highly ranged as other premium phones which are available in the market. It is expected that the handset will retail upward of $500.

Rumored specs and features of the upcoming handset

HMD is known for making basic mid-range Android handsets and this is its first stint to introduce a premium device for consumers.

The company is on a mission to revamp itself with the Nokia 8, premium handset which is rumored to boast a 5.3-inch QHD display. The handset will likely sport a full metal body. The device is expected to tout a 13 MP rear camera co-developed with Zeiss. Under the hood, it will likely house a Snapdragon 835 processor and 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM.

Rumor has it that the device will retail in two sizes. Both the handsets will have similar features and specs. This suggests that the company is taking a leak out of rival Apple and Samsung’s book. All the Nokia Android handsets have so far been made from 6000 series aluminum, so it is expected that the flagship will also deploy the same design sensibilities as its siblings.

Now, the question lies whether the impending device would be able to compete against Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8, which is expected to be unveiled in August. Apple is expected to launch the 10th anniversary edition iPhone 8 in September. Therefore, it will be interesting to see if the Nokia 8 can lure buyers away from Apple's new iPhone and capture consumer interest.
