Several seasons ago, the championship-winning duo of Kyrie Irving and LeBron James disbanded due to Irving's desire to become a star on his own. Irving was traded to the Boston Celtics, where he's trying to guide the team to the NBA finals in the East. LeBron has since left Cleveland for the West and plays for the Celtics' biggest rivals, the Lakers. It was believed the two players could never co-exist again, after that Cavs breakup. However, a call that Irving made a month ago to LeBron says otherwise.
LeBron opens up about Irving relationship
At All-Star Weekend 2019, LeBron participated in All-Star Media Day in Charlotte.
King James spoke about a number of topics, ranging from how much longer he'll play in the NBA, to owning a team one day. In addition, he opened up about the phone call former teammate Kyrie Irving made to him last month. Basically, LeBron admitted he's always had the love for Irving, but that phone call brought his respect to a new level.
LeBron James told ESPN's Dave McMenamin, "I think I’ve always loved Kyrie, from before I met him, until when I became his teammate, to even now."

The Lakers star closed the discussion of his relationship with Irving by saying, "… I really don’t want to talk about it too much, because it’s not for everybody.
… I love Kyrie. I love everything about Kyrie." That love led to LeBron James choosing Kyrie as part of his starting lineup for the 2019 NBA All-Star Game in Charlotte, but it's another reunion that has many fans intrigued.
LeBron-Irving reunion possible for Lakers?
The Los Angeles Lakers made their final trade offer for Anthony Davis ahead of the NBA trade deadline.
That attempt failed, so that means they'll wait to see if Davis is available to sign in 2020. Meanwhile, the class of NBA free agents on the way for the summer of 2019 brings a lot of potential stars as possible teammates for LeBron James. That includes former teammate Kyrie Irving.
The Boston Celtics star gave his reaction when learning he was on Team LeBron.
When asked about his plans for next season, Kyrie Irving dismissed reporters by saying to talk to him around July 1. He was also dismissive when asked about his relationship with LeBron James during All-Star Media Day.

Whether or not the Lakers will bring Irving to Los Angeles to reunite with LeBron James remains to be seen. There are also NBA rumors that the New York Knicks are interested in Irving, and rumors that the Boston Celtics want to try to bring Anthony Davis to their team.
It's hard to argue that the combination of LeBron James and Kyrie Irving was a winning one. Based on the recent comments from LeBron and his selection of Irving for his team, it seems anything is possible for the future.
