The 2016-2017 NBA season is going to be very lucrative for some NBA players who are inking top money making deals in the off- season. If you have ever wondered just how much money some professional basketball players make, look no further. Here is a small list of the deals that some players have signed in the past few days.
Pro NBA players sign big money contracts
New reports reveal that the salary cap has drastically risen for NBA players, who can thank the huge pay increase to new television deals involving the upcoming NBA season. Here are a few of the craziest free agency deals that have been signed so far.
Evan Turner has signed a four-year-deal with the Portland Trailblazers for $70 million. Note an average bench role player is reported to pocket around $17 million.
The next deal goes to former Cleveland Cavalier Timofey Mozgov. It was a great year for Mozgov who aided in helping the Cavaliers to their first ever NBA championship, therefore breaking what has been known as the 50-year Cleveland sports team curse. Moving on from the Cavs now, Mozgov penned a four-year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers that will pad his bank account $64 million.
This next one really had us rubbing our eyes and doing a double take. DeMar DeRozan signed a five-year deal with the Toronto Raptors for an unbelievable $145 million.
Since the Raptors impressed during the NBA playoffs it is only fitting that their players also take advantage of the millions of dollars getting tossed about in signing deals right now too.
Up next, Solomon Hill, four-years, $50 million with the New Orleans Pelicans. Joakim Noah $72-million for four years with the New York Knicks.
These deals are just the beginning for NBA stars and while it amazes us spectators beyond belief at the incredible salaries that professional basketball players are commanding these days, we can't help but wonder just what some of the other BIG name players such as Dwayne Wade, Steph Curry and Cleveland Champ LeBron James are going to be inking this season.
You just know the deals will be astronomical considering the Warriors and the Cavs are going to be doing everything and beyond to keep their number one powerhouses tucked safely away on their beloved teams. NBA speculations reveal that with these new payout standards LeBron James could very well land a deal that could bank him a phenomenal $200 million. FYI this would also be another NBA record for LeBron James this season.
