''Game of Thrones'' Season 8 has an interesting approach when it comes to putting various characters on a collision course with one another. The entire Westeros is forced to rally together in front of a common enemy - the Night King and the Army of the Dead. But that could be a two-edged strategy as some characters who lack compatibility are to stand in the same room.
In terms of character density over a square foot, Season 8 is having a blast. Winterfell is the convergence point and Jaime Lannister is the latest major character to arrive at the gathering.
Given his past wrongdoings along with his often questionable morality, that could lead to some unwanted tensions. According to refinery29.com, his life could be in danger.
The official preview of Season 8 Episode 2 opened the possibility of some vengeful thoughts or actions from people Lannister caused harm to in the past.
Daenerys didn't forget that Jaime killed her father
Long before she became an important figure of the ''Game of Thrones'' narrative, Daenerys Targaryen was forced to go into exile along with her brother Viserys Targaryen. That course of action followed their father's assassination by the hand of Jaime Lannister.
Episode 2 preview is very clear about how Daenerys feels about the situation and one should not be that shocked if she makes a move to revenge her father's death.
After all, there hasn't been a major character killing in a very long time. And, to be honest, Daenerys ordered some killings for even less. Sam Tarly's family's tragic fate is just an example. It would be interesting to watch how the junction between Daenerys and Jaime unfolds.
But Jaime Lannister's history of crimes and questionable acts is long and goes way back in time.
A major character at the time being, Bran Stark was a part-time extra during Season 1.
And he also had his path crossing with that of Jaime.
Remember, that particular scene took place during Episode 1 of Season 1. If that doesn't qualify for a dramatic onset of action, then nothing will.
Season 8 Episode 1 ended when a mysterious horseman entered Winterfell.
It was Jaime Lannister who was making a discreet arrival in the North. The minute he got off the horse, he crossed his eyes with the iconic picture of Bran and his wooden wheelchair. Quite a reunion some might say.
Bran gave Lannister a creepy stare before the episode ended. But that's barely enough to help us anticipate how their grudge will play out eventually.
One thing is certain though: Jaime Lannister arrived at a party where all his current best intentions cannot make up for the past wrongdoings. Whether it's going to be the Night King, Daenerys or even Bran, Jaime Lannister's fate hangs by a thread. Let's see what the future holds for him.
''Game of Thrones'' returns Sunday with the second episode of Season 8.
