Eminem was out of the spotlight for a long time until the release of his album "Revival." The album dropped in December of 2017 and was his first new album in over four years. His ninth studio album, "Revival," received mixed reviews from fans and critics, but it did debut at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. On August 30, Eminem put out the following tweet:
This new album came out of nowhere, and fans were ecstatic.
They waited a long time for him to come back, and releasing two new albums in eight months proves that Eminem is definitely sticking around.
'Kamikaze' is rapper's 10th studio album
The "Kamikaze" tracklist is made up of 13 songs, some of which were produced by Illya Fraser, more commonly known as Illadaproducer. The producer told Rolling Stone magazine that this album marks the return of Slim Shady. The 13 tracks are listed below:
- "The Ringer"
- "Greatist"
- "Lucky You" (feat. Joyce Lucas)
- "Paul – Skit"
- "Normal"
- "Em Calls Paul – Skit"
- "Stepping Stone"
- "Not Alike" (feat. Royce 5'9")
- "Fall"
- "Kamikaze"
- "Nice Guy" (with Jessie Reyez)
- "Good Guy" (feat. Jessie Reyez)
- "Venom" - Music from the motion picture
This surprise album drop has created a ton of buzz, and on the album, Eminem disses some of his fellow rappers.
Some of the songs take shots at Drake, Lil Pump, Lil Xan, and Machine Gun Kelly. The shots could be genuine, or this could have been done because that's what sells records. Regardless, none of the rappers being dissed seem to be taking it too personally.
'Venom'
The last track on "Kamikaze" is titled "Venom," and it's from the upcoming Sony movie of the same name. The film "Venom" will be released in the United Sates on Friday, October 5. The movie is based on a Marvel comic and stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, and Woody Harrelson. Directed by Ruben Fleischer, "Venom" will likely be one of the highest grossing movies of the fall once it finally hits theaters.
Fleischer has directed some well known films, including "Zombieland," "Spaced Out," and "Gangster Squad." The 43-year-old director also has a plethora of writing and production credits under his belt.
Eminem is no stranger to having his songs make their way onto movie soundtracks. "Murder, Murder" landed on the "Next Friday" soundtrack, "Kings Never Die" was in "Southpaw," and the rapper has even had numerous songs featured in movies and television shows.
