"Spider-Man: Homecoming" sequel has been named and it was revealed by Marvel Studios Kevin Feige, who confirmed that film's name will be "Spider-Man: Far From Home," during the "Ant-Man and The Wasp" press tour. The title was first revealed by Tom Holland when he posted an Instagram video during his appearance at ACE Comic-Con Seattle, Washington. Sony Picture Entertainment also announced another Spider-Man spin-off film in the works.
The 'Spidey' sequel will have Peter Parker go on a London Tour with his friends and face a new foe named Quintin Beck (a.k.a. Mysterio). He tries to rediscover the hero within himself after the events of "Avengers: Infinity War" and "Avengers 4."
Sequel's name is 'Spider-Man: Far From Home'
According to Cinemablend, Marvel Studio's head, Kevin Feige, confirmed Holland's Instagram video post about "Spider-Man: Homecoming 2's" title and stated that "Far From Home" has multiple meanings.
"[It's] similar [to Spider-Man: Homecoming]. I won't say what the meanings are," Feige told Cinemblend. "But we enjoy that title because, like Homecoming, it is full of alternate meaning."
Holland has been infamously known for accidentally revealing information about his Marvel Movies.
At one time, he burned the entire script of "Avengers: Infinity War" to prevent himself from spoiling it during interviews and press tours. But it is safe to say that his actions have been toned down a bit now that the studio will begin production for "Far From Home" in the summer.
The plot of the film will take place after the events of the fourth "Avengers" film as Peter Parker is trying to cope with everything that has happened to him after the team's encounter with Thanos. Peter is devastated about the demise of Tony Stark (a.k.a. Iron Man) and tries to preserve his legacy by stopping Mysterio from stealing his last invention for Stark Industries.
Spidey will have a new ally in the form of MI6 agent Jessica Drew.
Adrian Toomes and Mac Gargan will return to the sequel working for someone with higher power and agendas.
Silk spin-off in the works
According to The Wrap, Sony Pictures Entertainment is developing another "Spider-Man" spin-off focusing on Cindy Moon (a.k.a. Silk) and producer Amy Pascal will be handling the project. Cindy made her live-action film debut in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" as one of Peter's classmates in Midtown Highschool and she is played by Tiffany Espensen.
In Marvel comics, Cindy was the second person bitten by the same radioactive spider that gave Peter his powers. She was trained by Ezekiel Sims and was locked away to prevent Morlun and his Inheritor family from capturing and consuming her.
Peter eventually found her during the events of the "Origin Sin" arc and the two had an unusual attraction to one another due to the genetic code of the spider that bit them.
The "Silk" spin-off will join other Sony films such as "Venom," "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," and "Silver and Black."
