Actor Mark Salling ("Glee") has been discovered dead from an apparent suicide near his home in Los Angeles, CNN report.
His attorney Michael Proctor released a statement, in which he mentioned that Mark was a sweet man who understood he had made serious errors of judgment in the past but was attempting to atone for those errors at the time of his death.
Known for playing the character 'Chuck,' Salling was due to face seven years jail time after pleading guilty in December to possessing child pornography.
He allegedly died by hanging himself near the Starwood Riding Club.
Mark had also allegedly previously attempted suicide in August by slitting his wrists but had received counseling and treatment before pleading guilty in December.
Social media reaction from past 'Glee' castmates
Despite his chequered past, Mark Salling's ex-"Glee" castmates and production team have expressed their condolences via Twitter and Instagram - many also referencing Cory Monteith, his co-star who passed away in July 2013 from a drug and alcohol overdose. Salling is now the second young actor to die from the show in recent years.
Jane Lynch who played teacher Sue Sylvester retweeted a tweet from "Glee" vocal arranger Tim Davis which implored people to realize that even though Mark had done bad things and he was in no way making excuses for his behavior, that he was a previous victim of abuse himself.
Matthew Morrison, who played teacher Will Schuester posted a photo of himself, Salling and the late Corey Monteith on set in a heartfelt Instagram post.
Co-stars Lea Michelle and Naya Riviera, who are rumored to have had relationships with the actor in the past, have so far stayed silent.
Conflicting social media reactions
The social media reaction from the public has been conflicting - fans have rallied to mourn Mark Salling as the actor they admired on "Glee," whilst others have been quick to remind others of the charges laid against him and have expressed dissatisfaction with the sympathy on offer.
They have sought to remind his few remaining fans that Salling was a criminal and that he didn't deserve any praise, even in death.
Most have agreed that suicide is nothing to treat lightly, and that the family Mark Salling leaves behind deserves sympathy and to be left in peace to mourn.
What do you think? Comment below - is it right to be sympathetic towards Mark in death despite his horrific crimes? Or do his charges outweigh any goodwill?
