It seems like everybody has their own theory about the fate of the characters in "Game of Thrones." Some believe that Hot Pie might eventually be revealed to be Azor Ahai while Arya Stark could turn out to be the true heir to the Iron Throne. But what are the chances that Jaqen H’ghar might return to play a large role in the final season?
The mysterious Faceless Man was first introduced in the second season before resurfacing in Braavos in order to train Arya in Season 5. Since then, there have been several theories about Jaqen's true identity. Not surprisingly, actor Tom Wlashchiha has offered his take on the truth about his "Game of Thrones" character.
Is Jaqen H'ghar actually Rhaegar Targaryen?
Being a Faceless Man is certainly a convenient way to hide one's true identity. In the fifth season, Jaqen had effectively turned Arya away from the House of Black and White by wearing the face of another man. Interestingly, there is a theory suggesting Jaqen might actually be Rhaegar Targaryen, who has managed to stay under the radar by becoming an assassin. According to Winter Is Coming, Tom Wlaschiha has heard of the theory and deemed it truly "interesting."
The former "Game of Thrones" actor pointed out that his character's name appears to be an anagram for "Rhaegar" then added that fans have tried to justify the theory by comparing the two "with photos, long hair, his grace." However, Wlaschiha did not confirm whether Jaqen is secretly Daenerys Targaryen's older brother.
So is there any chance that the truth about Jaqen will be revealed in "Game of Thrones" Season 8? Tom Wlashchiha addressed the possibility of the Faceless Man helping in the war against the White Walkers.
Will Jaqen return in the final season?
It certainly looked like the Faceless Man would no longer be part of the "GoT" storyline now that Arya Stark has left Braavos and reunited with her siblings in Winterfell.
However, fans are hoping to see more of Tom Wlaschiha before the end of the series. Unfortunately, the actor stated that he is not aware of his character's fate or whether or not he will be back in Season 8.
"From what I have seen in the last season, what is left is going to focus on the great battle of Westeros," Wlaschiha said.
He also added that, "At the moment it does not seem that Braavos participates."
Will Jaqen H'ghar make a surprise appearance in the final season? Find out when "Game of Thrones" Season 8 premieres on HBO in 2019.
