October 3 may just be an ordinary day for some, but for "Mean Girls" fans, it is a day known as the "Mean Girls" day. October 3 wasn't actually the day that the movie was released but instead, it gained its commemorative badge because of a line by Cady Heron referring to it as the day that her crush, Aaron Samuels, asked her what day it was. At a glance, the movie may seem to be a typical teeny-bopper movie filled with teenage angst, girl fights, puppy love and other extracurricular activities at school. However, the movie opened a whole new world, showing how popularity and different school cliques mashup in one big concrete jungle called North Shore High School.
It was top-billed by Rachel McAdams and Lindsay Lohan, who played the iconic roles of Regina George and Cady Heron respectively.
It's been 13 years since "Mean Girls" premiered on the big screen but it's safe to say that the movie is still widely referenced and used in many memes and inside jokes among the fans. Meanwhile, where are the cast of "Mean Girls" now?
Lindsay Lohan as Cady Heron
Lindsay Lohan played the role of Cady Heron, a girl who used to live in Africa and grew up being home-schooled. When she arrived at North Shore High School, not only was she culture-shocked, but she was also teetering on the thin line between being one of the outcasts or being part of the school's most popular girl clique.
While her career and personal life may have been in some sort of a rollercoaster ride, Lindsay Lohan shared a photo of her re-watching "Mean Girls" on her Instagram account. Although there was a sequel and even a musical version of the movie, it appears that Lohan prefers re-watching the classic.
Rachel McAdams as Regina George
Rachel McAdam's role as Regina George is undeniably one of the most iconic roles that she has played throughout her career. Playing the role of a beautiful, popular, yet totally evil teen queen, fans had learned to have a love-hate relationship with Regina George.
As if "Mean Girls" wasn't enough to boost her popularity, "The Notebook" was also released in the same year, making Rachel McAdams one of the Hollywood A-listers in no time at all.
Just like Lindsay Lohan, it looks like McAdams still isn't ready to leave "Mean Girls" behind. In fact, just last week, the 38-year old actress gave a birthday shoutout to her fellow "Mean Girls" cast, Lacey Chabert.
Gretchen Weiners, Karen Smith, and Aaron Samuels
Lacey Chabert, who played the role of Gretchen Weiners, has an upcoming Hallmark project, "All Of My Heart: Inn Love." Meanwhile, Amanda Seyfried, who played Karen Smith, recently welcomed her first child a few months ago and is ready to reprise her role in the "Mamma Mia" sequel. Jonathan Bennett, who played the eye candy of Regina George and Cady Heron, is currently the host of Food Network's "Cake Wars."
