The popular teen comedy movie “mean girls” is soon hitting the Broadway stage. It will have its trial run at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C. this autumn season, the official website said.

The Broadway adaptation of “Mean Girls” will premiere on Broadway on April 8, 2018, at the August Wilson Theatre. After the trial run ends this December 2017, it will stage preview shows on March 12, 2018, the official website added.

The new poster design of the stage musical has just been released. It is a pink ensemble featuring the actresses who are portraying the key roles of Cady Heron, Regina George, Gretchen Wieners, Janis Ian, Karen Smith, Aaron Samuels and more.

Experienced director

“Mean Girls” on Broadway will be based on the book by Tina Fey. Jeff Richmond, who became known for the satirical sitcom “30 Rock” will take charge of the music and lyrics. Neil Benjamin, who was known for his music in “Legally Blonde” will team up with Richmond.

It will be directed by Tony nominee Casey Nicholaw. He is known for his theatrical works that include “Aladdin,” “Something Rotten!,” “The Book Of Mormon” and “Spamalot.”

The producers of the musical are Stuart Thompson and Lorne Michaels, along with the partnership with Paramount Pictures, the company that brought the classic story by Tina Fey to the big screen.

Stellar cast

“Mean Girls,” tells the story of Cady Heron, a teenage student who hails from Africa with her scientist parents.

Her family moves to Illinois to find herself in the middle of a group of fellow students deemed popular in the school. She goes into a web of issues involving her personality, her family, and her relationships.

The movie featured the performances from actresses such as Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Rachel McAdams. As the popular film begins its run on Broadway, it will also feature a set of stellar actors and actresses who have numerable experiences related to theater.

The cast includes Taylor Louderman, Kate Rockwell, and Ashley Park, playing the “Plastics Trio” Regina, Karen and Gretchen. Cady Heron’s character will be portrayed by Erika Henningsen. Other actors include Barrett Wilbert, Grey Henson, Kyle Selig, Kerry Bulter, Cheeche Manohar and Rick Younger, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Tina Fey told Entertainment Weekly that the fans of the original movie will find the spirit of the film from the musical. She added that the music of the theatrical show will be “catchy,” and the viewers will walk out of the theater space humming the songs.
