“Justice League” is set to introduce Atlan, the king of Atlantis as the film debuts worldwide on November 16, Screen Rant reported. What makes it even more exciting is the role he will play in the lives of DC’s most celebrated superheroes, particularly that of Jason Momoa’s Aquaman.
Actor Julian Lewis Jones recently revealed the photo of himself as Atlan, which he shared through his official Instagram account. He captioned the image, “So incredibly proud to be part of @justiceleague @ZackSnyder is a Cinematic Genius.”
The photo which has earned more than 1,000 likes as of press time, is a cropped version of a behind-the-scenes image that Snyder earlier shared via Vero.
In the Instagram post, Jones was seen standing beside the particular shot that the film director previously posted. The king of Atlantis was shown wearing a suit and holding a trident.
King Atlan
The character of King Atlan is part of a group of species that can manipulate magical forces. In the comic book series, he was introduced as the father of Aquaman. He was also overthrown by Orin the First as king of Atlantis according to the original story.
He possesses a very powerful superhuman strength that can be stronger than an entire ship. He also can create ice and spurt ice spikes enough to impale his rivals.
Julian Lewis Jones will be part of the stellar cast in the upcoming movie. Though he has been rumored to play the role of the underwater king, he has not yet confirmed the character he will be portraying, Screen Rant added.
He confirmed his participation in the DC film in July with speculations that he will either portray Darkseid or Steppenwolf. If he is playing the role of King Atlan, he will certainly be part of the movie’s prologue scenes featuring the New Gods’ first war with Earth’s inhabitants set thousands of years ago.
