"Game of Thrones" might be coming to an end but that doesn't mean that the HBO series will stop from adding new characters in the final season. After all, the battle against the White Walkers will require more people who could fight the undead army. But will a new cast member end up being killed by Euron Greyjoy in "Game of Thrones" Season 8?
In the previous "Game of Thrones" season finale, Euron abruptly exited the Dragonpit meeting after finding out that wights cannot swim. However, Cersei Lannister later revealed that she had actually sent the King of the Iron Islands to convince the Golden Company to work for her in Westeros in the eighth season.
Unfortunately, there is a possibility that Euron will not use diplomacy to bring the sellswords back to the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms.
Euron Greyjoy takes control of the Golden Company
There are speculations that Euron might have a difficult time persuading the Golden Company to join him back in Westeros. After all, the sellswords are known for being loyal to their current employer. Some believe that Euron will find the group while they are employed to someone else and will need to forcibly convince the Golden Company to change their minds.
It has already been confirmed by Vanity Fair that Marc Rissman has been cast as Harry Strickland in "Game of Thrones" Season 8. In the books, Harry is the Golden Company's captain-general in command.
There is little doubt that Rissman's character will be the one who will be dealing with Euron Greyjoy. Unfortunately, this could also mean that Harry will be in danger if he refuses to cooperate with the King of the Iron Islands.
Will Harry Strickland die in Season 8?
It is still unclear whether Harry Strickland will play a large role in the final season.
The series has been notorious for killing off characters who were expected to survive in several episodes. For example, Ian McShane turned in a wonderful performance as the septon who inspired The Hound in "Game of Thrones" Season 7. The character was murdered in his only episode, sending Sandor Clegane on a warpath for his killers.
Hopefully, things will be different for the commander of the Golden Company if he chooses to work with Euron Greyjoy.
Negotiations might be happening in Essos, but much of the drama in "Game of Thrones" Season 8 is expected to take place in the North. Fans already suspect that Sansa Stark will betray her own family so she can remain the Lady of Winterfell. On a lighter note, there is a possibility that Tormund Giantsbane has survived the attack on Eastwatch and is set for a major reunion with Brienne of Tarth. "Game of Thrones" Season 8 will air in early 2019.
