Danielle Panabaker, who plays Caitlin Snow in "The Flash," was tight-lipped on specific details about Season 4 during her interview at Dragon Con over the weekend. However, she did confirm a few things about the installment. She confirmed the time jump, Julian Albert's absence and teased the appearance of both Killer Frost and Caitlin Snow.
Time jump
Season 4 opens with a time jump six months into the future. Team Flash is still without Barry Allen. Fans may remember that in the Season 3 finale, Barry sacrificed himself in the Speed Force to save Central City.
When the new season opens, the team is trying their best to cope without their leader. “I think it’s about 6 months between the end of season 3 and beginning of season 4,” Panabaker said as quoted by Comics Beat.
Aside from Barry, the team is also missing Julian Albert. Panabaker said that the time jump will reveal the reason for his departure. Perhaps it has something to do with Caitlin. In the Season 3 finale, we saw her leave the team despite Julian’s suggestion that she stay so they can build a life together. His offer sounded like a proposal and Caitlin declined. She also gave him back the metahuman cure he tirelessly worked on just for her. Julian probably felt that there was no need for him to be at S.T.A.R.
Labs if Caitlin is not there. Regardless, Julian’s absence reaffirms the departure of actor Tom Felton, who will not reprise the character in Season 4.
Caitlin is MIA
Panabaker confirmed that Caitlin stood by her decision to leave the team because she is not part of Team Flash when Season 4 opens. This leaves Iris, Cisco and Kid Flash to function without two of their allies.
They have also taken on different roles. “Iris has certainly stepped up and taken more of a leadership role. Kid Flash is still out there trying to fill The Flash’s shoes,” Panabaker added.
However, this does not mean that we will not see Caitlin despite her absence in Team Flash. Panabaker teased that it is likely we will see both the doctor and her alter ego Killer Frost in “The Flash” Season 4.
She said that fans of Killer Frost and Caitlin Snow will not be disappointed. Likewise, the trailer for the new season teased that Caitlin eventually returns to S.T.A.R. Labs. She looks a bit different though more like Killer Frost.
No musical episode
Do not expect another musical episode in “The Flash” Season 4. Panabaker recalled that they were exhausted after they made “Duet” in Season 3. So it is unlikely there will be one this season.
