The first episode of “The Flash Season 4 will premiere on Oct. 10, and executive producers have finally revealed the reason why The Thinker will go up against the Scarlet Speedster. The Thinker is set to be the upcoming season’s main villain, and this is the first time that the series will feature a non-speedster antagonist.

According to Bleeding Cool, several details have been confirmed for “The Flash” Season 4.

First, Neil Sandilands from the hit series “The 100” will be the one to portray The Thinker. The executive producers view the upcoming season as “the fastest man alive vs. the fastest thinker alive.” This suggests that Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) would have to outsmart his new opponent rather than just be the fastest man.

‘The Flash’ EPs say big mystery remains

As the earlier mentioned source pointed out, the main villain’s motivation against The Flash comes from something personal that he experienced. Executive producer and showrunner Todd Helbing explained that a psychological component will contribute in the forthcoming Season 4.

Helbing further explained, “The Thinker literally is the smartest guy on the planet, so there are a lot of chess pieces that he is moving around simultaneously.” While he describes the root as a big mystery, he adds that they will bring back the fun in the series. Of course, Team Flash will work hard to plan for The Thinker’s defeat. The team will also try to catch up, or even surpass every bit of information they have.

Who is The Thinker?

At the moment, we are not aware of how much The CW will use the original comic book storylines for “The FlashSeason 4. It looks like The Thinker is running a personal vendetta in the series. According to Screen Rant, he is a genius inventor. He creates his technological weapons to support his plans.

One of his particular infamous works is the “Thinking Cap.” This helps him to have an exceptional thinking ability. With this, he is expected to conquer Central City. However, this won't be easy especially with Barry Allen’s return from the Speed Force.

The downside of his return is the psychological difficulty to go back in his usual life. There are no revealed details as to how he managed to come back from the Speed Force. Aside from this, he also has an obligation to work out his romantic relationship with Iris West (Candice Patton).

After Reverse Flash, Savitar, and Zoom, Barry Allen will now have the time to prove if he is indeed the fastest and smartest speedster alive. “The Flash” Season 4 will air on October 10,
