"Riverdale" star Kj Apa, 20, who plays Archie Andrews on the popular CW hit teen drama, was involved in a late-night Car Crash. The accident took place on Thursday, September 21 after Apa fell asleep at the wheel following a 16-hour day of filming in Canada. According to THR reports, Apa dozed off behind the wheel during the 45-minute drive to his hotel in Vancouver and crashed into a utility pole. The actor was not seriously injured during the crash. However, his rental car was totaled.
KJ Apa escapes serious injury
KJ was taken to a nearby hospital for a medical evaluation following the crash.
He was released a few hours later with minor injuries. Sources close to the "Riverdale" production reportedly told THR that producers often require the "Riverdale" actors to film long hours that sometimes run into the early hours of the morning.
It was also revealed that the "Riverdale" cast is responsible for providing their own transportation to and from the set. Apa was alone in the car at the time of the crash because co-star Cole Sprouse, who plays Jughead, changed his plans to ride back to the hotel with Apa at the last minute. Following the accident, Sprouse has reportedly taken it upon himself to reach out to the higher ups and request that they consider providing transportation to cast members that work long hours.
