"Jessica Jones" fans excitedly found out on social media this week that Season 2 filming was complete. The series will now go into the editing process, getting it ready to be released on Netflix. Does this mean a date for season 2 being available for streaming is now in the works?

'Jessica Jones' five months of filming

It's taken the crew and cast five months to film the whole of season 2. Everyone got together in April, as soon as "The Defenders" had finished filming to get the second season in the works. Filming was completed on September 14, 2017.

It makes sense that the filming started after "The Defenders" season 1 since Jessica Jones is one of the main characters on the show. The Marvel show put together all Netflix Originals main characters, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Daredevil, and the Iron Fist.

It's unclear whether any filming for the next seasons of other shows have started. "Daredevil" season 3 is expected to be the next one in the works. Fans hope that new seasons of all individual heroes will be available sometime next year.

When will 'Jessica Jones' premiere?

Of course, fans want a date. Don't expect Netflix to have the second season before the end of the year. Most publications and experts believe the second season will debut sometime in 2018, and it will likely be the first return of the year from all current Marvel/Netflix Originals.

However, there will likely be a Marvel show coming to the streaming service. "The Punisher" is expected to release its first season before the end of 2017. Whether that is going to happen will depend on the filming.

With filming finished, fans could see "Jessica Jones" season 2 be available around March 2018. This would be over a year since the first season premiered, which happened in fall 2015.

However, this is understandable considering "The Defenders" was released this summer.

Very little is known about the second season so far. While the end of season 1 looked like it would be the end of David Tennant's character, MArvel has confirmed the "Doctor Who" actor will return for the second season. Nobody knows how or why that will happen just yet, but there are plenty of fans excited to see everything else Tennant can bring to the show.

There are no trailers yet to show since the filming has only just finished. They will hopefully be released before the end of the year, giving us more hints of what to expect in the coming season of "Jessica Jones."
